Volker Strifler Band - An International Band

Gary Silva: Drummer

Gary Silva has provided the beat for a Who's Who of Blues and Rock N Roll for over 35 years. Under the tutelage of Luther Tucker (Muddy Waters), he was soon in demand and highly sought after, backing Legends of the Blues that include Big Mama Thornton, Albert Collins, Big Joe Turner and John Lee Hooker. Silva spent years honing hi s skills backing Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Irma Thomas, and Charlie Musselwhite, as well as Rock-n-Roll legends Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley. He joined ranks with Butterfield Alumni Mark Naftalin and later Elvin Bishop, with whom he recorded two highly acclaimed records on the Alligator label. Tours of Japan, Europe, and North America followed, where he also performed with Bonnie Raitt and George Thorogood. Stints with the New Riders of the Purple Sage and an ongoing gig with Norton Buffalo add to a considerable resume.

Silva's versatility is vast and he's played it all: Blues, Rock-n-Roll, Jazz/Fusion and Country. He has a Grammy nomination for his work with Ron Thompson & the Resistors and has received three Bay Area Music Awards. "Silva remains in demand for projects with numerous recording artists as he continues to drive the sound of the Volker Strifler Band."
